"Well..."
On Friday night, some of us girls went downtown to see our cello teacher, Lyen McAbee, along with his group as they played for a gallery night at an old historical house. As you may see from the photo, they played on the upstairs porch. The house is next to Hub Stacey's and across from the gazeebo at Seville Square. It was all very layed back. People would come in and out, looking at rooms and local art while sampling wine and eating chips and such little oddities, and sometimes stepping out on the porch to check out the music. When we were looking for the house, we could hear the music as we were walking off in the distance, and that sounded cool.
While the guitarist was changing her strings, one of the fiddlers let me try his Romanian violin (which when I told him I was scared to play it he said, "It is an old Romanian, it has seen worse days.")
I played "The Butterfly" so Lyen could play with me, and the guy that let me try his violin got his flute to play along.
Afterwards, we walked across the street to the bay along the sidewalk. Actually, we all walked on the little wall in a line while all singing Peter Pan. (Yes, we do know very well that we are dorks :)
"We're following the leader, the leader, the leader! We're following the leader wherever we may go! Te dum, te dee, a tee de de dum te day!..."
I am SO jealous ("in a good way!").
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, you also totally missed us singing the song from "Madeline", "Hear the song of the nightengale...". Man, you missed out! :o)
